Mushroom Facts: The Official Ingredient of Earth Monthš
On Tuesday, Sustainable Baddie team members got the chance to attend a Mushroom Council Earth Week event in New York. The event featured drinks and dishes all inspired by and including the official ingredient of Earth Month: Mushrooms! So what did we learn?
According to the Mushroom Council mushrooms are a naturally sustainable ingredient. Producing a pound of mushrooms generates 0.7 Ibs of Co2 equivalents, uses only 1 kWh of electricity, needs only 1.8 gallons of water, and requires very minimal land. An acre of land can grow 1 million pounds of mushrooms.
Mushrooms are the O.G. sustainable baddie, and thank goodness for that because they are one of our favorite foods!
